Overview

Bro Brun Kez was founded durring the late 11th century, by Snaithu Daelret. The establishment of Bro Brun Kez was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Snaithu Daelret struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Bro Brun Kez as a prison colony.

Bro Brun Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Bro Brun Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Bro Brun Kez is buildings have been located at convienant points along the swamp Bro Brun Kez was built upon. Navigating the town is therefore a little chalanging as the distance between buildings verris greatly and the broad packed earth streets flow where they are able to be made rather than folowing the most convienant paths. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Bro Brun Kez weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. The budget focused millitary grade defenses have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

The town shows nothing out of the ordinary, at first glance. Then you start to notice all the small things. Each window has seven iron nails pounded into the sill. Every door has a sprig of holly overhead. Every well is branded with purity seals and runes to ward the contents. Everyone is carrying a small charm for safety or fortune, be it a rabbit’s foot, a horseshoe, or other little totems.

Cultural Notes

Bro Brun Kez's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.

Points of Interest

Many of Bro Brun Kez’s structures date back to the ancient past and a long-vanished culture. They have unique architectural traits, perhaps being made of some strange substance or with uncanny qualities. The locals find them too useful or too durable to destroy, but the buildings often have unpleasant little surprises in their under-explored corners, and there may be greater structures still buried by long ages beneath Bro Brun Kez’s streets.

Bro Brun Kez's is something of a geological and arcane anomaly, as neither physical nor magical law entirely explains its formation.
